AI Training

Structured capability for the team that has to actually do the work.

From a half-day to a two-week intensive, designed against your team's real work and your real stack. Delivered in modules with hands-on labs in every one, and a follow-up check four to eight weeks later to see what stuck.

Overview

Off-the-shelf courses do not teach your team to do your work.

AI Training is the deepest of the three Learn offers. It is the right shape when a team needs to come out the other side operating differently, not just informed. The curriculum is written from scratch for your stack and your real work, and the labs run on artefacts the participants recognise from their own week.

We deliver to a wide range, non-technical operations leaders through to senior engineers, but the depth is shaped to who is in the room. The trainer is in the labs as much as on the slides, and comprehension gets checked by watching what each participant builds, not by a quiz at the end.

What you get

Three concrete artefacts every participant leaves with.

The team should be able to keep doing the work on Monday. These three deliverables are what makes that possible.

01

A working artefact

Each participant finishes with something they built themselves in the labs, a working agent, a prompt library, a reviewed pipeline, that they can show colleagues and rebuild later from their own notes.

02

A written summary

A per-participant summary of what was covered, the labs they completed, and a short list of next steps tailored to their role. The summary is theirs to keep and to share with their manager.

03

A follow-up check

A scheduled session four to eight weeks after delivery. We come back to see what stuck, what got blocked, and where the team needs reinforcement, at no additional cost above the fixed engagement price.

When this fits

Four signs Training is the right shape, not Workshop or Hackathon.

You need durable capability, not a decision

Workshops produce decisions and plans. Hackathons produce prototypes. Training produces people who can do the work themselves, repeatedly, against new problems. If the outcome you need is a team that operates differently in six months, Training is the shape that gets there.

The team has shared, recognisable work

Training is most effective when the group does similar work , a marketing team, a customer-support function, a small engineering squad. We can design labs against artefacts everyone recognises. Cross-functional groups that share no concrete work are usually better served by a Workshop or a Hackathon.

You can free people for half-days, not hours

Training assumes participants can step out of their day-to-day for at least a half-day block at a time. We do not run hour-long lunch-and-learns; the labs need uninterrupted time to be worth doing. If your team cannot be released that long, that is a useful signal in itself.

You want one supplier, not a course library

If your team is sophisticated enough to self-direct against a course catalogue and you already have an internal champion, buying seats on a self-paced platform is a fine answer and cheaper than us. Training is the better fit when you want a designed curriculum delivered by a person accountable for the outcome.

Why us

Three things specific to how we deliver Training.

A

The trainer ships AI work

The person at the front of the room also runs Applied North's Create engagements. The labs are designed by someone currently building production AI systems, not by someone who teaches them for a living.

B

Curriculum is custom, full stop

We do not have a standard course we lightly tailor. Every Training engagement gets a curriculum written from scratch for the team in question. You see it before delivery and can push back on any module.

C

The follow-up is in the price

The four-to-eight-week follow-up check is part of the fixed-price engagement, not an upsell. We would rather see what stuck than pretend the work ended when the last module finished.

How it runs

Four steps from first conversation to follow-up.

A half-day and a two-week intensive run very differently inside the modules. The four steps around them are the same.

Capability conversation

A free first call with the people who manage the team. We map who the participants are, the stack they work in, and the specific work we expect them to be doing differently four weeks after we finish.

Curriculum design

We write a module-by-module curriculum specific to your team and your stack. You see it before delivery and can push back on anything. Generic content gets stripped; the labs use your data and your codebase wherever possible.

Modular delivery

We deliver in modules, typically half-day blocks, with a hands-on lab in every one. No watch-only sessions. We check comprehension as we go, not with a quiz at the end, by watching what each participant produces in the labs.

Summary and follow-up

Each participant gets a written summary of what they covered and a short list of next steps. We come back four to eight weeks later for a follow-up check to see what stuck, what did not, and what the team needs next.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about AI Training.

Can the same training serve technical and non-technical participants?

Sometimes, but usually not well. Mixing a senior engineer with an operations lead in the same lab tends to short-change both of them. We are more likely to recommend running two parallel tracks, or running the same content twice for two different cohorts. We will say so on the intake call.

What does “a half-day to two weeks” actually mean in practice?

A half-day is a single focused topic, for example, getting a marketing team competent with a specific AI writing tool against their real briefs. A two-week intensive is a small engineering team going from no production AI experience to having shipped something. Most engagements land between two and five days.

Do you use our real data and codebase in the labs?

Strongly preferred. The training is materially more valuable when participants are working on artefacts they recognise. We will sign whatever NDA your legal team needs first. Where real data cannot be used, we build representative synthetic material in advance, but it is the second-best option.

What happens if a participant falls behind?

We design the labs so the trainer can spend extra time with anyone who needs it without holding up the group. If someone is going to be left behind by the planned pace, we would rather know on day one and adjust the curriculum than push through and lose them.

Do you issue certificates?

We provide a written completion summary per participant. We do not issue industry-recognised certificates because we do not think they are worth what they claim to be worth. If your organisation requires a formal credential, an off-the-shelf course is a better fit than us.

Have a team that needs to be doing this work, not watching it?

Tell us who they are and what they do today. We will tell you whether Training is the right shape, what the curriculum would cover, and what it would cost.
