AI Workshop sits in the middle of the Learn family. Less depth than Training, more focus than Hackathon. The shape is right when a defined group needs to leave the room with one specific thing agreed, and the cost of not getting there is real.

We facilitate; the team does the work. Pre-work is assigned in advance so the room is not spent catching up. Everyone leaves with the same understanding of what was decided, and the written output that lands within five business days makes the decision legible to people who were not there.

One named outcome

The workshop is scoped around exactly one concrete outcome agreed on the intake call, a plan, a spec, a decision, or a written recommendation. Everything in the room is shaped to get there.

A written output

A written artefact within five business days that captures what was decided, why, and the trade-offs considered. Whoever was not in the room can act on it without you re-explaining.

Shared understanding

Everyone who was in the room leaves with the same understanding of the decision and the next steps. This is harder to measure than the document, and arguably the more valuable of the two.

One outcome can be named

A workshop only works if you can name the single thing it has to produce before it starts. “Align on AI strategy” is too fuzzy. “Agree the three priority use cases for the next two quarters and the budget envelope” is the right shape. If we cannot get to that level of specificity on the intake call, the workshop is premature.

The right people can be in one room

Workshops only produce decisions if the people who own the decision are present for the full duration. If half the attendees can only dip in for an hour or two, the room cannot converge. We would rather move the date than run a workshop with the wrong attendance.

Pre-work is realistic

A workshop runs on what participants bring in. If the group cannot find two hours each in the weeks before for short, specific pre-work, the room spends the first day catching up and produces a worse outcome. We will tell you on the intake call if the pre-work load is unrealistic for your team.

A written record matters

If the decision being made affects people who are not in the room, executives, downstream teams, a board, the written output is doing real work. If everyone affected is already at the table, a workshop may be heavier than you need, and a shorter Advise session might fit better.

We facilitate, you decide

We are not in the room to make the decision for you. Our job is to keep the room honest, structured, and moving, and to push back when the conversation starts drifting away from the named outcome.

Pre-work is mandatory

We will not run a workshop where the pre-work has not been done. If the team has not engaged with the prep, we postpone rather than spend the first day teaching what they should have read. That is unusual; it is also the policy.

Five business days, full stop

The written output lands within five business days of the workshop ending. Not “a couple of weeks.” If we slip that, the decision goes cold and the workshop loses half its value. It is a fixed commitment.

Scope the outcome

A free first call to name the one concrete outcome the workshop has to produce, a plan, a spec, a decision, or a written recommendation. If the outcome is fuzzy, we will say so and either sharpen it together or recommend a different shape.

Pre-work assignment

Two to three weeks before the workshop, participants receive short pre-work, reading, an artefact to bring, or a question to come ready to answer. The workshop runs on real material the team brought, not on hypothetical exercises invented on the day.

Facilitated working session

One to three days, in person or remote, with us facilitating and the team doing the actual work. We do not present at you for hours; we structure exercises, push back when needed, and keep the room moving toward the named outcome.

Written output

Within five business days, you receive a written output that captures what the room decided, a plan, a spec, a decision memo, or a recommendation. Whoever was not in the room can act on it without having been there.

Frequently asked questions about AI Workshop.

What kinds of outcomes are workshops actually good for?

Aligning a leadership team on an AI strategy. Scoping a build before a Create engagement. Deciding between two architectural options. Producing a written policy for AI use across an organisation. The common factor: a defined group needs to leave the room with one specific artefact agreed.

What outcomes are workshops bad for?

Anything where the right answer is “the team needs more capability” (Training fits better) or “we need to see what is buildable” (a Hackathon or a Proof of Concept fits better). We will redirect on the intake call rather than sell you the wrong shape.

Who should be in the room?

The people who own the decision and the people who will have to live with it. Six to ten participants is typical. Above twelve, the room stops being a workshop and becomes a presentation. We will recommend splitting into two sessions if the invite list is creeping up.

Can it run remotely?

Yes, one and two day workshops run well over video for groups up to about ten people. Three-day workshops we recommend doing in person where possible; the fatigue dynamic on a third remote day is hard to overcome and the output suffers.

What does the pre-work actually look like?

Short and specific. Maybe a one-page summary each participant prepares about their part of the business. Maybe a piece of source material everyone has to read. Maybe an artefact, a current process map, a draft policy, brought into the room. Two hours of prep, not twenty.
